Spectrum Friends – Lebanon
Spectrum Friends is a support group for adults (ages 18 and over) with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including Asperger Syndrome. The group is based in Lebanon, Pa. and welcomes individuals (and their family members and support people) from Lebanon County and surrounding counties. The purpose of the group is to facilitate socialization, formation of friendships and sharing of information about the autism community. We want to get individuals with ASD talking to each other.
The structure includes a monthly meeting, up to two hours long, that includes news about autism events, the ASD members having a group discussion in a circle of chairs, and family members and support people having a separate support meeting. There is also usually one social activity a month. Past activities have included Christmas and Harvest parties, a hike and picnic at Memorial Lake State Park in Indiantown Gap, Pa., visits to Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz, Pa., going to movies, visits to Knoebel's Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pa., and Games Night at someone's house.
